Veg. Grilled Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 8-10 slices of Brown Bread or Whole Wheat Bread
  • 1 medium Potato, boiled and sliced into rounds
  • 1 small to medium Cucumber l, sliced
  • 1 small Onion, sliced
  • 1 small to medium Tomato, sliced
  • Butter as required
  • Chaat Masala powder as required
  • Roasted Cumin powder as required
  • Black Salt or Regular Salt as required
  • freshly milled Black Pepper – optional
  • 1/2 cup Coriander chutney
  • Tomato ketchup or sauce to be served with the sandwiches

Method

  1. Rinse, peel and slice the Onion,Potatoes,Tomatoes and Cucumber in thin rounds.
  2. Butter all the Bread slices. The butter has to be spread evenly and generously so that the bread does not become soggy on spreading the chutney.
  3. Spread some Green Chutney on the slices.place a few slices of Potatoes, then place 2 to 3 Cucumber, Tomato and Onion slices. Sprinkle roasted Cumin powder, Chaat masala powder and Black salt.
  4. Cover the sandwiches with the remaining slices of Bread.
  5. Spread Butter on the top of slices.
  6. In a pre heated grill, place the sandwich carefully with the buttered side facing at the bottom. Now spread butter on the top side facing you.
  7. Close the grill and grill the sandwiches for 2-3 minutes or till crisp and golden.
  8. Remove the grilled sandwiches with a wooden spatula. Serve Hot.

Pizza Sauce

Tomato Sauce for your Pizza most easiest of DIYs.Why would you go and buy a bottle of pizza sauce containing lots of preservatives when you can make it yourself very easily at home within minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium fresh Tomatoes or ¾ cup Tomato puree
  • 2-3 garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil or any other Oil
  • 2 tsp Dried or Fresh Basil
  • 1 Tbsp dried oregano
  • freshly crushed or ground Black Pepper as per taste
  • Salt a per taste

Method

preparing in pan

  1. Blanch the Tomatoes and the chop them. If using Tomato puree skip to step-2.
  2. In a deep pan heat Oil. Add chopped Garlic fry for few seconds.
  3. Add the Tomatoes. Let them cook for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add the Herbs, Salt and Pepper.Mix well.
  5. Cook further for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Cool down and adjust seasoning.
  7. Use immediately or store in a air-tight container in refrigerator, up to 1 week.

preparing in microwave

  1. Blanch the Tomatoes and the chop them. If using Tomato puree skip to step-2.
  2. Add Oil and Garlic in large bowl and keep for 10-20 seconds.
  3. Add all other ingredients and keep in microwave for 3 minutes.
  4. Take out and crush tomatoes and keep again for 3 minutes.
  5. take out stir well and crush tomatoes if any left to give sauce like texture. Cool down and adjust seasoning.
  6. Use immediately or store in a air-tight container in refrigerator, up to 1 week.

 

Tips

  • You can change choice and quantity of herbs according to your choice.
  • This recipe makes sufficient sauce for 3 medium pizza so you can adjust quantity according to your need.
